Interpreting Dreams
by Richard August

I dreamed I was dead
I lay on a lawn chair
in a yard in the country
it was night, quiet and dark
except for a lit-up window
on the second floor
which I stared at
I wanted to go up to that room
to listen to music
I awoke remembering the silence
that’s how I knew I was dead
then I heard a story read
over the radio saying
dreams about death mean
there’s new life coming
I felt better
